RISKUL v1.8.0 delivers a wide range of enhancements focused on usability, performance, structured collaboration, and clarity across all core tools. Important: To ensure the update functions correctly, clear your browser cache before logging in. For additional guidance, refer to the updated User Guide or speak with your RISKUL system administrator.

Terminology Change

The term ‘RAM – Risk Assessment Methods‘ has been replaced by ‘R-Tool‘ — a collective reference to: HAZID, HAZOP, HIRA, TRA, Risk Register, and Opportunity Worksheet.

Visual & Navigation Updates

  • Refreshed menu bar, fonts, colors, and buttons for a cleaner and more intuitive interface.
  • Removed the ‘screen-in-screen’ worksheet scroll for smoother control and improved editing experience.
  • The Project Dashboard has been renamed to Dashboard.
  • The User Guide has been overhauled for improved clarity, structure, and technical depth.

Task Management

  • Unlimited Characters – Task fields no longer have a character limit.
  • Default Task Status – New tasks now default to “Open”.
  • Controlled Deletion – Only the Project Admin, Task Assigner, or Task Assignee can delete tasks.
  • Edit History & Notifications – Tasks show the full comment history and are user-stamped with updates triggering system notifications.
  • Direct Notification Links – Task notifications now open the specific task directly.

Messages & Notes

  • The Messages feature has been retired.
  • Notes have been visually restyled and functionality enhanced for improved usability.

Worksheets with the Review Date set to “Not Set” are no longer displayed in approval lists, reducing visual clutter.

The Keywords feature has received a major upgrade to improve organisation, usability, and efficiency across worksheets and project libraries.

Keywords Menu Bar

  • Risk Register Sub-Category – Keywords are now displayed in alphabetical order for faster and clearer selection.
  • Project Dropdown – Now only displays live projects. However, assigning a keyword to All Projects will still make it available to completed projects if reactivated later.

Keywords in Worksheets

  • Search Functionality – A new search bar allows users to quickly find and insert the correct keyword.
  • Keyword Categorisation – Keywords are now clearly separated into:
    • Selected – Keywords already added to the worksheet.
    • Shared – Keywords available across all projects.
    • Project-Specific – Keywords only available within a defined project.

These improvements make it easier and faster to locate, manage, and apply keywords accurately within any project or worksheet.

The Category and Sub-Category Keyword system within the Risk Register has been significantly upgraded to support clearer classification, streamlined navigation, and more structured data management across projects.

Key Improvements:

  • Real-Time Category & Sub-Category Linking
    • When selecting a Category in the worksheet, the linked Sub-Categories are shown, ensuring accurate and relevant pairings.
  • Sub-Category Selection
    • When selecting a sub-category, the linked category will automatically be selected.
  • All Project & Project Specific Sub-Categories
    • Sub-Categories linked to a Category by be assigned to All Projects or to a specific project.
  • Alphabetical Sorting
    • Category and Sub-Category keywords are now shown in alphabetical order, simplifying selection.
  • Direct Keyword Entry in Worksheets
    • Add new Category and Sub-Category keywords directly within the worksheet without needing to access the Keyword Library.
  • Visual Cues
    • Category keywords display in orange within the worksheet keyword pop-up for clear identification.

These improvements enhance filtering, keyword accuracy, and risk classification — especially valuable across multi-project environments.

The new Activity Log allows users to record structured summaries of key risk management activities throughout the life of a project. It supports transparency, improves audit trails, and helps teams track decisions and discussions tied to R-Tool usage.

Key Features:

  • Structured Logging Table Capture important information using the following fields: Date, R-Tool Used, Description of Activity, and Attendees.
  • Project-Level Tracking Activity Logs are linked to individual projects and provide a centralised record of sessions such as HAZIDs, HIRAs, workshops, and review meetings.
  • Exportable with Reports The full Activity Log can be exported as part of the Project Report, helping ensure that risk management work is documented, traceable, and ready for review or handover.
  • Improves Oversight Encourages project teams to maintain a running log of their risk assessment efforts, supporting better continuity and communication.

Where to Find It:

Access the Activity Log via the main Dashboard within each project. The option appears alongside other R-Tool elements and is available to all project users with standard access.

Worksheet Row Positioning – Intuitive Drag & Drop

Row movement in all R-Tool worksheets is now streamlined with a simple drag-and-drop feature. Just select the row you want to move—an arrow icon will appear next to your cursor—then drag the row to its new location.

Rows will automatically insert above the row you drop onto. This intuitive feature replaces manual up/down toggles, helping you organise content faster and more efficiently.

Move Worksheet Between R-Tools

You can now move rows between worksheets of the same R-Tool type within the same project—ideal for correcting misplaced content or reorganising as your project evolves.

To move a row, save your worksheet, select the row, and click Move Row. Then choose a valid destination worksheet from the dropdown and confirm. It’s that simple.

Risk Register Copying

  • Content copying now supported:
    • Same project – all fields copied.
    • Different projects – selective field copying available (refer to User Guide for details).

Content Copying

  • Retired Worksheets are now hidden during copy operations.
  • ‘At Risk’ rows from HIRA, TRA, and Risk Register worksheets can now only be copied within the same project.
  • A destination conflict warning is displayed if the copy target is being edited and the copy is prevented.

Worksheet Locking

The latest update introduces Manual Locking, giving users greater control over who can edit a worksheet and when.

Users can now lock a worksheet manually, preventing others from making changes while they work. This is especially useful during detailed reviews, focused editing sessions, or when entering multiple rows of content.

AI Integration

Offers grammar checks and concise rewriting without generating new content — improving clarity and professionalism without changing the intent.

AI assistance is now available in targeted free-text fields across all R-Tools.

HIRA & TRA Worksheets

  • Updated print/export layout for improved readability:
    • (R)CQ and (R)PR fields now merged with (R)RS.
    • Slightly expanded Control Measures column width.

Several updates align the HAZOP worksheet with best practice methodology and improve overall usability:
